Terms of Service
The terms that apply when you use DaConekt to find local help, or to offer your services.
Last updated: September 17, 2026
Always review the price and fees shown on screen before you confirm a booking, an assessment or a subscription. These terms are written in plain English and are not legal advice.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating a DaConekt account or using the platform you agree to these terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. During account setup we ask you to confirm this, and we record the date and the version of the documents you agreed to. If you do not agree, please do not use DaConekt.
2. Eligibility and accounts
DaConekt is intended for adults who can enter into a binding agreement, and currently serves Ottawa and surrounding Ontario communities. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential, and for activity under your account. You may sign in with an email and password or with a Google account.
3. DaConekt's role
DaConekt is a marketplace and technology platform that helps people find and connect with independent local service providers. Unless we clearly state otherwise, DaConekt does not perform the services offered on the platform and is not the employer, agent, partner, supervisor or insurer of any provider. Every agreement for work is between the customer and the provider.
4. Service requests, quotes and bookings
Submitting a request does not guarantee that a provider is available, that a provider will respond or accept the job, or that work will be completed in a particular timeframe. Scope, timing and price are agreed between you and the provider.
Before you accept a quote, providers see only limited location information — your city, province and the first characters of your postal code. Accepting a quote declines the other quotes on that request, opens a booking, and shares your exact service address and phone number with the provider you selected. A booking is confirmed when you and the provider agree on a time. Messages sent through a booking are stored with it, readable by both participants, and may be reviewed by DaConekt for trust, safety and support purposes.
5. Site visits and assessments
A provider who cannot price a job accurately without seeing it may request a site visit or assessment instead of sending a quote. The provider sets the assessment price, which may be free. There is no fixed platform-wide assessment price.
An assessment is not the final quote for the job. For a free assessment, your confirmation schedules the visit and releases the address and contact details the provider needs to attend. For a paid assessment, your payment must be completed and confirmed by our payment processor before the visit becomes confirmed and before those details are released to that provider. After the assessment the provider can submit a final quote, which then follows the normal booking and payment steps.
6. Prices, fees and taxes
The job or assessment base amount is set by the provider. DaConekt charges a customer service fee of 5% of that base amount, and it is shown to you on screen, together with the total, before you confirm payment. Providers pay a DaConekt transaction fee on the base amount: 5% on the Free plan, or 2% while a DaConekt Pro subscription is active.
All fees are calculated on our servers from the accepted quote or assessment record, not from anything entered in your browser, and the rates that applied are stored with each transaction so later pricing changes do not alter past records. Payment-processing costs charged by our payment processor and any applicable taxes are separate from DaConekt's platform fees; DaConekt's fee does not include or cover payment-processing costs. DaConekt does not operate a pay-per-lead model.
7. DaConekt Pro subscription
DaConekt Pro is an optional provider subscription of CAD $50 per month, charged on a recurring monthly basis until cancelled. The reduced 2% provider transaction fee applies only while a Pro subscription is active and confirmed by our payment processor; clicking an upgrade button alone does not grant Pro. If the subscription lapses, is cancelled or payment fails, the Free plan rate of 5% applies again.
Providers may cancel Pro at any time from their plan page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid monthly period, and there is no cancellation fee. Features described as "coming soon" are not part of what you are paying for today. There is no annual plan.
8. Payment processing
Payments and provider payouts are handled by Stripe, including Stripe Connect for provider accounts. Providers must complete Stripe payout setup before customers can pay them through DaConekt. Card and bank details are entered with Stripe and are not stored by DaConekt; we keep transaction records such as amounts, fees, status and payment identifiers. Your use of Stripe is also subject to Stripe's own terms.
A payment is treated as successful only when our servers receive confirmation from Stripe. Never send money for a DaConekt job by cash or e-transfer at our request — we will not ask you to.
9. Cancellations, refunds and disputes
Bookings and site visits can be cancelled through the platform before the work or visit is completed, and you can add a reason. Where a cancellation, error or non-performance means a refund is appropriate, refunds are issued through Stripe to the original payment method. There is no blanket "no refunds" rule.
Please raise problems with the provider first through the booking messages, then contact us if it is not resolved. DaConekt may help with records and communication, but the work itself is the provider's responsibility. Nothing in these terms removes or limits rights you have under Ontario consumer-protection law or other applicable law, including any statutory cancellation, refund or disclosure rights.
10. Provider responsibilities
- Provide accurate business, service and contact information, and keep it current.
- Hold and maintain the qualifications, licences, permits, certifications and insurance required for the work you offer.
- Quote honestly, communicate clearly, and perform work to a reasonable professional standard.
- Comply with applicable laws, including tax, employment, health and safety, and consumer-protection obligations.
- Operate as an independent business responsible for your own workers, subcontractors, equipment and materials.
- Use customer addresses, contact details and any information about a household member only to deliver the requested work.
11. Customer responsibilities
- Describe the work accurately, including the service location, access details and anything that affects safety.
- Review the scope, price, DaConekt service fee and total before confirming.
- Provide safe and lawful conditions at the service location.
- Treat providers respectfully and pay the agreed amount for work performed.
12. Arranging help for someone else
You can save profiles for the people and places you arrange help for — your own home, a household member, a parent or loved one, a rental property or a business. Where you provide another person's name, address, contact details or access information, you confirm that you are authorised to share it and to arrange services on their behalf, and that you will tell them how their information is used. Do not add health or medical information.
13. Regulated and licensed services
Some services — including certain electrical, plumbing, gas and construction work — may only be performed by appropriately licensed professionals. Providers must hold the credentials their work requires. DaConekt does not confirm licensing for every provider or every job.
14. Family & Senior Assistance is non-medical
Family and senior assistance on DaConekt covers non-medical everyday support such as companionship, errands, groceries, technology help, transportation and appointment accompaniment, and light household help.
It is not an emergency service and does not include nursing, medical care, medication administration, personal or hands-on care, or any regulated health service. In an emergency, call 911.
15. Verification badges and reviews
Verification statuses and badges on DaConekt are controlled by DaConekt, not self-awarded by providers. A badge means only the specific check it names, at the time it was recorded. We do not claim that every provider is verified, licensed, insured or background checked, and a badge is not a guarantee of quality, conduct, safety or outcome. Please continue to use your own judgment when hiring.
Reviews can be submitted only by a customer about a provider for that customer's own completed booking, one review per booking. Providers cannot write or edit reviews about themselves. Ratings and averages shown are based on real submitted reviews.
16. AI-assisted intake
When you describe your need in your own words, we may use an automated assistant to suggest an existing service category and tidy up your description, and it may ask a couple of clarifying questions. This helps route your request only. It is not professional, legal, medical, trade or safety advice, and it does not assess provider suitability, availability, pricing or outcomes. You can always choose the service yourself, and you can edit anything suggested before submitting.
17. Keeping jobs on DaConekt
Where a customer and provider are first introduced through DaConekt, the resulting job should be quoted, booked and paid through the platform. That keeps the booking record, receipts, messages, support and review eligibility in one place.
Taking that introduction off-platform to avoid DaConekt fees is a breach of these terms, and deliberate or repeated circumvention may lead to proportionate account restrictions or suspension, subject to applicable law. We do not apply automatic penalties or scores. The length of time this expectation applies after an introduction is not fixed in these terms and should be settled with legal advice before it is enforced as a defined period.
18. Prohibited conduct
- Fraud, deception, or misrepresenting your identity, business, credentials or insurance.
- Harassment, threats, hate speech or discrimination against any person or group.
- Requesting or offering unsafe, illegal or regulated work you are not permitted to perform.
- Misusing another person's personal information, or using platform data for unrelated purposes.
- Interfering with the platform, attempting unauthorised access, or introducing malicious code.
- Spam, unsolicited marketing, or unauthorised scraping or automated collection of site content.
- Posting false, incentivised or retaliatory reviews.
19. Content you submit
You are responsible for the content you submit, including request descriptions, profile details, messages and reviews, and it must be accurate, lawful and respectful. You grant DaConekt a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display that content as needed to operate, support and promote the platform. We may remove content that breaches these terms.
20. Intellectual property
The DaConekt name, logo, brand elements, site design, text and other materials are owned by DaConekt or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. You may not copy, modify or use them without permission, other than normal use of the website.
21. Third-party services
DaConekt relies on third-party services such as payment processing, authentication, email delivery, hosting and automated assistance, and may link to other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, practices or terms. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider's own terms.
22. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end access where there is a breach of these terms, a risk to safety or security, suspected fraud, or a legal requirement. You may stop using DaConekt at any time and ask us to close your account. Some records are kept after closure as described in the Privacy Policy.
23. Disclaimers
The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that a provider will be available or accept a job, that any particular outcome, quality, timing, price or level of safety will be achieved, that background checks or insurance are in place for any provider, or that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing here excludes warranties or conditions that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
24. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, DaConekt is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for the acts, omissions, work or conduct of independent providers or customers. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including under Ontario consumer-protection legislation.
25. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify DaConekt against reasonable claims, losses and costs arising from your misuse of the platform, your breach of these terms, or your breach of applicable law or the rights of others. This does not apply to the extent a loss is caused by DaConekt.
26. Changes
We may change, add or remove features as DaConekt develops, and we may update these terms. When we make a significant change we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, ask you to agree again. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
27. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada. We ask that disputes be raised with us first so we can try to resolve them. Courts in Ontario will generally have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection or other non-waivable rules give you the right to bring a claim elsewhere or to use another process. Nothing in this section waives rights that cannot be waived.
28. Contact us
Questions about these terms can be sent through our contact page or to contact@daconekt.ca.
