How DaConekt handles personal information for customers, providers and the people they arrange help for.

Last updated: September 17, 2026

We collect what we need to run the marketplace and nothing more. This policy is written in plain English and is not legal advice.

1. Scope

This policy covers personal information DaConekt handles through our website, accounts, marketplace features, payments, messaging and emails. DaConekt operates from Ontario, Canada and applies Canadian privacy principles, including those under PIPEDA. It applies to customers, providers, visitors and people whose information a customer gives us when arranging help.

2. Why we collect information

  • To create and secure accounts and verify who is signing in.
  • To match service requests with eligible providers and let them quote or request an assessment.
  • To arrange, schedule, confirm and record bookings and site visits.
  • To process payments, platform fees, subscriptions, payouts and refunds.
  • To enable messaging, reviews, support and dispute handling.
  • To operate provider verification and trust and safety measures, and to prevent fraud and misuse.
  • To send transactional emails such as confirmations, password resets and notifications.
  • To keep business, tax and accounting records and meet legal obligations.
  • To understand how the platform is used so we can improve it.

3. Information you provide

Account and contact details (name, email, phone, city, province, postal code), your role as a customer or provider, and your agreement to our terms with the date and version. Providers also give business details, services offered, service area, experience, website or social links, and a description of their work.

4. Information about other people

You can save profiles for the people and places you arrange help for — your own home, a household member, a parent or loved one, a rental property or a business. These may include a name, relationship, address, contact number and access or arrival notes. They are not intended for health or medical information, and we ask you not to add any.

Profiles you save are visible only to you and are not shown to providers. Only the details needed for the specific job or visit are shared with the provider you choose. By adding someone's information you confirm you are authorised to provide it.

5. Addresses, location and staged reveal

Service addresses are collected so work can be performed. Before you choose a provider, providers see only your city, province and the first characters of your postal code. The exact street address, unit and phone number are released by our servers to one provider only: the provider whose quote you accepted, or whose site visit you confirmed. For a paid assessment, release happens only after the payment is confirmed. We do not track your device location.

6. Requests, quotes, bookings, messages and reviews

We store your service requests and descriptions, provider quotes, assessment requests, bookings and their status and times, messages exchanged in a booking, and reviews you submit. Messages are readable by the two participants and may be reviewed by our team for trust, safety and support. Reviews you publish, including your first name and rating, are visible to others on the platform.

7. Verification information

For providers, we record verification statuses and supporting notes about checks such as business details, licensing or background screening where those are carried out. Statuses are set by DaConekt. A provider can see their own status; other signed-in users see only badges that are verified.

8. Payments and Stripe

Payments, provider payouts and Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe, including Stripe Connect. Card and bank details are entered with Stripe and are not stored by DaConekt. We keep transaction records: amounts, the base price, the fee rates and amounts that applied, plan at the time, currency, status, timestamps and Stripe identifiers. Stripe handles that information as an independent processor under its own privacy policy.

9. Sign-in and Google accounts

If you sign in with Google, we receive basic account identifiers such as your email address and name so we can create or match your DaConekt account. We do not receive your Google password and do not access your Google data beyond sign-in. Email and password sign-in stores your email and a securely hashed credential with our authentication provider.

10. AI-assisted intake

If you describe your need in your own words, the text is sent to our automated assistant to suggest an existing service category and a tidied description. We keep the description you submit with your request and the suggestion it produced. Please leave out sensitive details, including health information, that are not needed to get the job done. You can always choose the service yourself instead.

11. Device, log and cookie data

Like most websites, our platform and its hosting and security services record technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, timestamps and error diagnostics. We use essential storage and cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the site securely. We may use a truncated or one-way hashed IP value to limit abuse of forms. We do not use advertising trackers.

12. Contact form and emails

Messages you send through our contact form (your name, email, optional phone, topic, subject and message) are stored so our team can reply, and are readable only by DaConekt administrators. We send transactional emails such as sign-up confirmations, password resets and service notifications through our email provider from our own sending domain.

13. Sharing and service providers

We share personal information only as needed to run DaConekt:

  • With the provider or customer you are transacting with — limited to what the job requires, as described in section 5.
  • With service providers who process information on our behalf: hosting and database, authentication, payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, error monitoring and the automated intake assistant.
  • With professional advisers, or where required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, security or to investigate fraud.
  • With a successor if our business is reorganised or transferred, under appropriate protections.

Our service providers are bound to use the information only for the services they provide to us. Because these processors are involved, we cannot say that we never share information.

14. We do not sell personal information

DaConekt does not sell personal information, and does not rent or trade it for advertising. Our revenue comes from platform fees on transactions and the optional provider subscription.

15. Processing outside Canada

Some of our service providers — including hosting, payment processing, email delivery and the automated intake assistant — may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While information is in another country it may be accessible to that country's courts and authorities under its laws. We do not claim Canadian-only data residency.

16. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above: while your account is active, and afterwards where we need it for transaction, tax and accounting records, disputes and legal claims, fraud prevention and security, and legal obligations. Some records, such as payment and booking records, must be kept for years under Canadian tax and limitation rules. When information is no longer needed we delete or anonymise it. A detailed retention schedule with exact periods has not yet been finalised.

17. Safeguards and breaches

We use safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information: encrypted connections, authenticated access, database access rules that limit each person to their own records, server-side authorisation for anything sensitive, staged address release, secrets kept only on our servers, and administrator-only access to operational data. No system is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required.

19. Access, correction and deletion

You can view and update much of your information directly in your dashboard, including profile details and the profiles you save for others. You may also ask us for access to the personal information we hold, for corrections, or for deletion of information we no longer need to keep. Write to contact@daconekt.ca or use our contact page. We will respond within the timeframes required by Canadian privacy law and may need to confirm your identity first.

20. Children

DaConekt is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a child's information reaches us through a household or recipient profile, it should be limited to what is needed for the service, and you must be their parent or guardian or otherwise authorised.

21. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as DaConekt develops. When we make a significant change we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where the law requires, seek your consent again.

22. Contact and complaints

DaConekt is accountable for the personal information in our care. Privacy questions, requests and complaints can be sent to contact@daconekt.ca, and our team will look into them. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
